Against the current. That's his motto.
Vincent started imagining music at the age of six as a way to escape difficult moments. Long before he learned to play an instrument, melodies and arrangements already filled his mind. Where others saw images, he heard sounds. Composition became his first passion, and remains the driving force behind everything he creates today.
Early Days
The son of a musician, Vincent picked up his first guitar at sixteen and never put it down. Two years later, he founded his first band, Free O'clock, alongside brothers Laurent and Guylain Blackburn, who would later become key members of Crossbreed Supersoul.
The adventure came to an end in 2000 when drummer Nicolas Rochecouste left for South Africa, but the experience laid the foundations for what would come next.
The Crossbreed Supersoul Era
After more than two years away from the stage and close to giving up music altogether, Vincent received a call from the Blackburn brothers in 2003. Together, they formed Crossbreed Supersoul, one of Mauritius' most influential rock bands.
Over the next nineteen years, the band built a loyal following, released multiple albums, and performed extensively in Mauritius and abroad, including shows in India, South Africa, and Reunion Island's renowned Sakifo Festival.
As the band's principal songwriter, Vincent penned many of its most recognisable songs, helping shape the soundtrack of a generation of Mauritian music lovers.
Influences & Collaborations
Throughout his career, Vincent has never stopped exploring new sounds and influences.
His musical world ranges from the emotional songwriting of Jeff Buckley to the sonic experimentation of Radiohead, the stadium melodies of Coldplay and Muse, and the atmospheric electronic landscapes of artists such as Moderat and Tale Of Us.
His passion for electronic music led to collaborations with international producers including Animal Picnic and David Granha. In 2019, one of these collaborations reached a milestone when his song Burning House was featured by Tale Of Us during their acclaimed Afterlife tour.
Solo
n 2021, Vincent embarked on a solo journey to create music without compromise—music that reflected his own experiences, influences, and artistic vision.
Now based in Melbourne, Australia, he continues to write, record, and perform, blending rock, acoustic storytelling, and the rhythms of his island roots. Whether on a festival stage, in an intimate venue, or performing acoustic sessions along the Yarra River, Vincent remains driven by the same goal that inspired him
